School Uniform

We require all children from Reception to Year 6 to wear uniform as this helps them to identify as being part of our Overthorpe family. We love the fact that our fantastic pupils are recognised as representing Overthorpe when they are out in our community.

Our uniform can be obtained from ‘Rawcliffes’ in Dewsbury www.smartschoolwearcentre.co.uk, who accept Kirklees clothing vouchers. Parents can also order uniform with the school logo online with Tesco.  If you do not have access to the internet school can order uniform for you from Tesco.  It is also acceptable to buy uniform in the correct school colours from any supermarket chain.

If you require support with providing uniform, or wish to recycle uniform, we run a Uniform Exchange where you can apply for items of "preloved" uniform at no cost. This scheme is open to all, it is not means tested and we would happy to provide you with further information. You can ask for items of clothing, pumps, PE kits, school shoes and coats if required. Speak to your class teacher or the school office.

The uniform colours are navy blue logo sweatshirts with yellow polo shirts and grey or black skirt/trousers. Girls often wear blue/yellow and white striped or checked dresses (school colours) in the summer.  Children are required to wear black, sensible shoes for school. Trainers, flip flops and heeled shoes are not appropriate.

For PE children need navy or black shorts and a white t-shirt. For outdoor PE your child should have some suitable footwear such as trainers.

The children in Year 4 go swimming.  All children in Year 4 will need a towel and suitable costume (one piece) for girls and trunks (not shorts) for boys on swimming day. They will also need a swimming cap.

We do not allow children to wear jewellery in school and ask that children with pierced ears wear small studs. No jewellery, including earrings, is permitted for PE or swimming.  Children need to remove these or cover them with tape. We also require that long hair is tied up for these lessons.

Please note that extreme hairstyles are not permitted.  This includes patterned haircuts eg tramlines, unnaturally coloured hair, mohicans etc.
