Meet the Governors
We work closely with our school Governors and are pleased to introduce you to them here:
Sue Muscroft (Chair of Governors)
Mary Collins (Vice Chair)
Diane Goodwin (Community Governor)
Andrew Moylan (Staff Governor)
This is my third year as a staff governor. I am passionate about working collaboratively to ensure that the children of Overthorpe Academy receive a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum that will prepare them for their future lives. I believe that it is essential that every child is provided with the tools, support, encouragement and nurture to instil in them a belief and self-confidence to be the best that they can be.
Paul Else (Parent Governor)
Paul joined the Governing Body at Overthorpe in 2018 as a Parent Governor. He has lived in Thornhill since 2007 and has one child who has attended the nursery and school for the last three years. Paul studied chemistry and management at Nottingham and Bradford universities and is now the leader of manufacturing site that serves the global crop protection markets. Paul has a particular interest in the promotion of STEM subjects within schools.
Louise Parker (Staff Governor)
Julie Lambert-Spencer (Parent Governor)

Matthew Birkett (Headteacher)
This is my second year as headteacher at Overthorpe and my 15th year of teaching. I have worked in a variety of schools in Kirklees and Bradford and am proud to be head at Overthorpe. I feel that we are making a significant difference to the lives and education of the children who attend our brilliant school. We have a proactive group of governors who genuinely care and make a difference to our children.
