Moon and Stars Reception Class
Welcome to Moons and Stars!
The adults here to help are Mrs Sharpe, Mr Owen, Mrs Mohamed, Mrs Loney, Mrs Johnson and Mrs Knight.
We are so happy that you chose our school for your child’s first year of school and we aim to make it a very successful and memorable one.
In Moons and Stars we always endeavour to create a positive and stimulating learning environment where children’s positive attitudes to their learning are always rewarded appropriately. We use a wide range of awards such as stickers, golden tickets, stamps, certificates and more!
We really value parental engagement and we provide lots of opportunities for parents to be involved in their child’s learning. We strongly advise parents to attend achievers assemblies, parent workshops and to check Tapestry regularly for updates on your child’s learning. Also we ask that parents read with their child every day and return homework very regularly and on time.
In Moons and Stars, planning follows the children’s needs and interests. The Early Years Foundation states that ‘practitioners must consider the individual needs, interests and stage of each child in their care, and must use this information to plan a challenging and enjoyable experience for each child’
Staff look at children’s starting points and developments through observations of children in the provision, both indoors and outdoors, and identify what the children become focused on. The observations are used to ‘feed forwards’ into the planning to provide the children with an engaging and stimulating environment in which they can learn and develop to make outstanding progress.
Some areas of learning are taught discretely – these include Literacy, Numeracy, P.E, creative development and Diversity and staff plan for these separately through medium and short term plans.
